According to the yearly crime report released on Monday, January 27, registered crimes have risen by 10% in Navi Mumbai, with 7,369 cases compared to 6,656 in 2023. The overall detection rate in Navi Mumbai increased by 3% in 2024, improving from 74% to 77%.
1. Crimes against women declined significantly, dropping from 703 cases in 2023 to 626 in 2024. The detection rate for these cases remained at 98%.
2. Body offences saw a slight decrease, with 797 cases in 2024 compared to 825 in 2023. The detection rate for these cases held steady at 98%.
3. Property offences recorded a slight decrease in cases, from 2,348 in 2023 to 2,250 in 2024. The detection rate increased from 33% in 2022 to 50% in 2023 and 52% in 2024.
4. Economic offences showed a slight increase, with 823 cases reported in 2024 compared to 812 in 2023. The detection rate for these cases declined from 57% to 51%.
5. Enforcement cases saw a sharp rise, jumping from 502 in 2023 to 1,363 in 2024. Despite the increase, the detection rate remained at a perfect 100%.
6. Other offences rose from 1,466 cases in 2023 to 1,510 in 2024, with the detection rate improving slightly from 86% to 87%.
7. The Navi Mumbai Police have made significant progress in recovering stolen property. In 2024, INR 47.49 crore worth of property was stolen, compared to INR 31.15 crore in 2023. The recovery rate improved from 61% in 2023 to 72% in 2024. Of INR 33.50 crore stolen in detection cases in 2024, INR 24.03 crore was recovered. In 2023, INR 10.80 crore was recovered from INR 17.91 crore in similar cases.
Navi Mumbai witnessed cyber theft losses amounting to INR 440 crore in 2024. Of this, INR 150.97 crore was linked to cyber fraud cases reported at local police stations. INR 41.32 crore was frozen, and INR 6.92 crore was recovered and returned to victims.
On the National Cyber Crime Reporting Platform, cases amounting to INR 296.71 crore were reported. Authorities managed to freeze INR 27.53 crore.
Throughout the year, Navi Mumbai Police organised 422 cybercrime awareness campaigns. They received 436 complaints of cybercrime, resolving 79 cases. This marked a slight improvement over 2023, where 76 cases were resolved. Additionally, 13,597 complaints were filed on the NCCRP portal.
