Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) is planning to start recreational activities like boating in the holding pond at Sector 19 in Koparkhairane.

Navi Mumbai civic body commissioner Dr. Kailash Shinde proposed that such facilities can increase public participation and generate revenue for the maintenance of nearby sewage treatment infrastructure. The decision has been taken by the Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation following the proposal of the Commissioner.

The recommendation was made as part of Dr. Kailash Shinde’s inspection of various projects under the Union Government’s Amrut 2.0 scheme, aimed at strengthening urban infrastructure. During the visit, he directed the officials to speed up the work of sewage pumping stations while maintaining quality standards.

The Commissioner inspected the facilities in Sectors 3, 12 and 28 of Vashi, where the construction of sewage pumping stations is in progress. He stressed the need to complete the work within the stipulated time frame and strictly adhere to the quality norms of the project.

Dr. Kailash Shinde reviewed the ongoing construction of underground and elevated water tanks in Vashi Sector 10. He directed the officials to expedite the work and start preparations for the water distribution trial, a Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation spokesperson said.
